Field notes: Bright, bouncy instrumentals for apple picking and baking
Early fall is still bright, and this playlist is the brightest of the eight. Think of a Saturday afternoon: you are halfway through a pie crust, the oven ticks as it heats, and there is a bowl of apples that needs peeling. The tracks are playful and light, with small melodies that skip along.
It also works away from the kitchen. Put it on the porch speaker while you carve pumpkins or put out hay bales, or play it quietly at a craft table with kids. Nothing here is sad or spooky, so it is safe for any room of the house.
The songs come mostly from spring and summer-leaning Purrple Cat records. That is on purpose: early fall borrows a little warmth from the season before it, and so does this playlist.

Quick answers
What is a good fall baking playlist?
Light, warm and unhurried music that keeps you moving without taking over. Orchard Afternoon is 15 bright instrumentals, a good length for one batch of cookies and a pie.
Is this kid friendly?
Yes. It has no lyrics, nothing scary and no sudden changes, so it is fine around children.
Can I play it at an apple-picking or fall festival event?
Yes, with credit. Free to use under CC BY 4.0: add “Music by Purrple Cat”.
