The short answer
What are the best fall songs?
The best fall songs depend on which fall you are in. In early fall you want warm, bright songs with some bounce. In peak fall (rain, candles, October) you want slow, cozy ones. In late fall you want spacious, misty songs for long nights. This site has a playlist for each, all instrumental and free.
Early fall Sep 22 – Oct 10
Warm light, open windows, the first sweater. Still bright, just a little slower.
Peak fall Oct 11 – Nov 9
Early dark, rain on the glass, steam from a mug. The part everyone means by “fall”.
Rainy Window · Cardigan Café · Bonfire Blanket · Candlelit October
Late fall Nov 10 – Dec 21
Fog, copper leaves, long nights and the quiet before winter.

Questions
Fall songs, answered
What are the best fall songs to play right now?
Start with The Fall Songs Playlist on this page: 121 instrumental tracks in season order, from golden early fall to foggy late fall. If you know the moment you are in, pick a specimen instead: Fall Walk, Rainy Window, Cardigan Café, Bonfire Blanket and more.
Are these songs instrumental?
Yes, all of them. There are no lyrics, which makes the playlists easy to study, work, read and sleep to, and safe to play around kids.
Why no famous fall songs like “September” or “Harvest Moon”?
This site only has original music by Purrple Cat, so you will not find hit songs here. What you get is music that feels like fall without lyrics, free to use in videos, streams and shops with credit.
What is the difference between early, peak and late fall?
Early fall is golden and bright (late September to early October). Peak fall is rainy, candlelit and cozy (mid October to early November). Late fall is foggy, copper and quiet (mid November to the winter solstice). Each playlist is tagged with its phase.
How long are the playlists?
The eight playlists run from about 37 to 49 minutes. For longer listening there are 1-hour, 2-hour and 3-hour mixes, and the full season playlist runs about 5 h 41 min. Everything loops.
Can I use this music in my fall videos and livestreams?
Yes, with credit. Use it on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch and other social media, in videos, streams, games, shops and cafés. Add the credit “Music by Purrple Cat”.
